The theme for The Experience 2020 was “Raise Your Voice: Learning the Power of Advocacy!” During the two-day virtual event and the follow-up sessions, we explored the theme and empowered girls to find positive ways to put their learning into action to transform the world.
We gathered in Brookside to view the Black Lives Matter mural painted by Vivian Wilson Bluett. She shared her journey and thoughts on using art to raise her voice. Each participant received an art bag from The Village KC to produce our own mural – RAISE YOUR VOICE (pictured below)
Author, poet, and entrepreneur Natasha Ria El Scari encouraged girls to use writing as their tool of expression. Natasha shared poetry from her books and gave advice to each girl who shared written work to continue using the pen to RAISE YOUR VOICE!
